February
Games Night
Date: Saturday, February 1st, 5 PM
Place: Cynthia's Apartment
Address: See Mailing List
I was thinking from 5 to 6, could be gossip, discussion, group planning, organizational stuff (such as getting a press kit together, organizing a singles function, etc.) and then games. Please DO NOT RSVP right now. (I'm going away for 2 weeks and replies may vanish before I return.) Please DO save the (new) date.
Dinner
When: Friday, February 21, 8PM
Place: Churrascaria Plataforma
Address: 316 W 49th St (btwn 8th & 9th Ave) RSVP: No later than January 31
A little about the restaurant: If you love meat OR are even a vegetarian, this is the place for you. If anyone eats fish but not meat, there is a variety of seafood in the buffet, plus they can bring you grilled salmon upon request. Warning: It's on the expensive side. But hey, I always think of spending money like this: if you're not going to spend it on children, why not spend it on YOU! The price is as follows: Flat fee for the food includes: salad bar and/or meat. Even if you eat exclusively from the huge salad bar, you will still be charged the flat fee of $39.95 PLUS tax and tip. Drinks and dessert are not included. Desserts are $6 each. I have been to this resturant on several occasions and can safely say is be prepared to spend *at least* $50!
March
Ice Skating
Date: Saturday, March 15 ("The Ides of March")
Time: 1:00 PM
Place: Wollman Rink
Address: Central Park, southeast area - approximately 62nd St & 6th Ave
Contact: Jared
RSVP: Not Required
Celebrate the Winter Wonderland that is Central Park with an afternoon of skating (or falling - up to you.) Skaters and non-skaters alike are encouraged to attend - it can be fun for all. A March date was selected to be a little more appealing than last year's VERY COLD January day. Currently their Web site has the holiday rate of $11.00 per person. I think it is $1 less after the holidays, but this gives you an idea of the cost.
April
Pool Party (billiards, not swimming)
When: Friday, April 25th, 6:30PM till ?
Place: Slate (an upscale billiard hall/bar/restaurant), downstairs
Address: 54 W 21st St, btwn 5th & 6th Ave, Manhattan
More info: www.slate-ny.com or 212-989-0096
Price: $16 per hour per table
Contact: Amanda
RSVP: Please RSVP and let me know if you'll be playing pool or not, so I know whether to ask for 1 or 2 tables.
The hostess advises that we get there early (6:30-7PM) if we want 2 tables next to each other, because the place does fill up on weekends. Any later than 7:30 there may be an hour wait for a table. She also suggested that we go downstairs because it's usually emptier.
Food/drinks: There are bars on both levels. Drinks are on the expensive side, but this is Manhattan/Chelsea, so what do you expect? There is also a menu with reasonably priced appetizers ($7-$10) and entrees ($12-$20). To see the food & drink selection, go to their website.
Smoking: I believe that the no-smoking rules will be in effect by then, but I forgot to ask them.

So, maybe there WILL be children playing mini-golf, but how cool is it to be a group full of adults crashing the party?!? There are two 18-hole mini-golf courses and also batting cages and a driving range for those who venture off the mini-course. Some additional information can be found on this Web site, but the details are rather simple. Meet at noon for the shuttle - WHICH LEAVES AT NOON - and pay $10 for the round trip. Golf was $5/round the last time I checked (about a year ago) but you can call for specifics. Return shuttles leave every hour on the hour until 5:00 PM.
