HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival - "The Man Who Knew Too Much"
Date: Monday, June 24th, 2002 (Rain date is the following night)
Time: 7:00 PM
Place: Bryant Park
Address: 6th Ave & 40th St to 5th Ave & 42nd St
Contact: Jared; RSVP: No later than June 22nd
In its 10th year, the HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival 2002 offers free classic movies on Monday nights throughout the summer. Since I work right near the park, I can "lay claim" to a spot by putting out a blanket when the park opens at 5:00. Movies begin at dusk so I have scheduled the event for 7:00 PM. I suggest that we all bring picnic food to share at 7:00 up until the movie starts. I will come up with some specific selection of colored balloons as a way to find that spot I will claim or you can also call my cell phone when you arrive - I will post this information to the e-mail list before the event.
Dinner - Utsav Festive India Restaurant
Date: Saturday, June 1st, 2002, 12:30 PM
Address: 1185 Avenue of the Americas

RSVP: No later than May 25th
This is a lunch event for $12.95 plus tax & tip (Soda/tea/lassi/drinks cost extra.) They have an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet with delicious vegetarian & non-vegetarian entrees, appetizers, salads, desserts and indian naan bread. The last time I went there on a Saturday, they were cooking up mini potato pancakes on a big grill. They tasted just like potato latkes! They have a bar too (beer, wine, mixed drinks). The reservation is under "Amanda."
August
Paint your own Pottery
Date: Friday, August 9th, 2002, 6:00 PM
Place: Our Name is Mud
Address: 506 Amsterdam Ave (btwn 84th & 85th St)
Contact: Amanda RSVP: No later than August 2nd
The cost is $10 per hour per person, plus the cost of your pottery piece. Pottery pieces range in price from $2 to $40, with $15 as the average. If our group is larger than 12 we will get a 10 percent discount on the price of the pottery pieces. We can bring food & non-alcoholic drinks and they will provide FREE WINE, plates, cups, napkins and utensils. If people are really hungry for more "dinner-type" food, we could always chip in & order a pizza. For those who have never been to this type of place, here's how it works: you pick out a piece of pottery that you like (which you have to pay for), then they provide you with the paints & decorations, and some help & advice. You paint your piece of pottery that night, and then you leave it there for them to fire in the kiln. Your pottery will be ready for pickup in 1 week. It is NOT required for you to buy & paint pottery if you don't want to. You are welcome to sit and hang out with us even if you don't want to paint. HOWEVER, I was told that if the place is really crowded and they have a lot of customers, they will ask a non-paying/ non-painting person to give up their seat to a paying one. There is a slight chance we might get bumped if another group books out the place for a private party. In that case, we'll choose the alternate date of Friday, August 16. Please RSVP to Amanda and let us know what kind of snack/food/non-alcoholic beverage you'd like to bring. Also let me know whether or not you will be painting. If this event is a success, we can do another one in the fall at the Greenwich Village location.

Well, I guess that's it! We don't exactly need reservations for this event, but if you could RSVP to me about a week before November 2nd, it would be great to get a head count estimate. Also, I'm not sure if there is a cafe in the museum itself, but I know that there are some great little restaurants in the area, if everyone wants to grab a bite afterwards. I hope you all can make it! Speak to you later!
